Emily and Shiv, sitting under a mandap…

This is it folks. Two hours under a mandap (square altar-like structure) with flames and flowers. The Hindu ceremony! The wedding day starts off here, where Emily and Shiv will commit to their union through a series of rituals and songs from the Hindu faith.

Cultural Significance: Shiv was raised Hindu and observes many traditions from the faith. The Hindu wedding has many parts with strong significance that would be too long to list out here, but guests will receive all the information to follow along and understand the meaning behind the actions/words.

Attire: The dressiest we’ll get all weekend! Indian attire is encouraged. You’ll be in this outfit for the entire late afternoon and evening, so make sure it’s comfortable to sit, stand, and dance in. No white, red, or black.
