Mehndi Meet & Greet
OK now ladies…
Join Em for the unofficial official start to the wedding – the mehndi ceremony! We’ll have intricate designs painted on our hands with henna while enjoying the beach and ocean breeze. It’s like an accessory, but you don’t have to worry about taking it off and on. All the ladies are invited to join if they want a small design painted on while Em is having her bridal henna. Both men and women are encouraged to stop by to say hello and stay for a drink!
Cultural Significance: Mehndi, or henna, is associated with good luck and positivity. The mehndi ceremony, one of the oldest traditions in Indian weddings, is held the day before as a way of wishing the bride good health and prosperity when she makes the journey into marriage. The henna plant is also known for its medicinal properties and soothing stress. It is believed that the deeper the color of the henna, the deeper the love between the couple and the understanding between the bride and her mother-in-law.
Attire: Henna is a dye and it can get a little messy, so please dress accordingly. Avoid white clothing and keep it casual – we’ll be hanging out at the beach bar while the artists create our designs!
