2023 Recap
What a year it's been! In our first trip around the sun as husband and wife, we spent a lot of our time on planes, trains, and buses visiting new places and old friends. Here’s the full run-down of what we got up to in 2023!
JANUARY: We started the year with a quick trip to Breckenridge for a reunion with Em's study abroad friends (& to learn we’re not ski people). Then we visited our friends Jared & Kelcy in Madison to meet their new baby, Remi!
FEBRUARY: We went on a cruise with Em's brother and sister-in-law, Adam & Bailey, to the Caribbean/Mexico, where we pet stingrays and Shiv made the most of the casino.
MARCH: This month led us to Knoxville to visit our friends Hannah & Chad in their new home. At the end of the month, we rung in Shiv's birthday with a classic karaoke party!
APRIL: Things quieted down a bit and we focused on sprucing up our home. Em traveled to Michigan for her cousin Liz’s baby shower. Then we found ourselves in Dallas to celebrate our friends Lily & Aum at their fusion wedding!
MAY: We ventured to Indianapolis to visit our friends Scott & Maddie and watch Adam's MBA graduation. Shortly after, Em had LASIK done (10/10 recommend!).
JUNE: This month held three weddings in Chicago (congrats to Maraya & George, Shelby & Trevor, Alisa & Amar), lots of friend time, and friendly competition in the beach volleyball league.
JULY: We stopped by Toronto to see Shiv's brother, Jai, and join our friends Saba & Mohamed for their wedding! Em jetted off to Rwanda for the rest of the month, while Shiv showed off Chicago summer to friends and family – our guest room books quickly!
AUGUST: Shiv’s sister, Devina, visited us before we embarked on our honeymoon to Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, and Bali. We had so much fun learning about the unique cultures of each city, soaking in the warmth, and enjoying delicious food. Ask us for recommendations if you’re ever headed that way!
SEPTEMBER: The busy didn't stop – Em's French family, the Laforges, visited the US for the first time, during which her host sister, Barbara, got engaged to her partner Gabe! The Snider family also came to visit for their annual Chicago weekend – so fun to have our nephews in the city! To round out the month, Shiv officially became a US citizen (finally) and we celebrated our friends Katie & Hans as they tied the knot.
OCTOBER: We said bon voyage to Em's grandpa as he moved to Germany, and marked our first anniversary with an incredible dinner at Indienne in Chicago.
NOVEMBER: We hopped over to the West Coast to spend a few days in LA (hi, Megan!) and then relaxed in Joshua Tree for Thanksgiving with our friends Austin & Dave.
DECEMBER: This month was full of festive celebrations, including Victoria & Danny's wedding, Christmas with the Snider family, and a boisterous New Year’s Eve in Chicago!
We are so grateful to our community, both far and near, for continuing to love and support us. This year has been marked by the moments we've been able to spend with each of you, and we hope that 2024 brings more of the same!
