Sangeet & Welcome Reception
Karibu Kenya!
The official official start to the wedding weekend! We’re rolling the welcome party, rehearsal dinner, and sangeet all into one so everyone can get to know each other right away. There will be music, food, dancing, singing, and who knows what else! Think of it like a talent show but with zero judgement and next to a cascading pool.
Cultural Significance: The word “sangeet” means “sung together” in Sanskrit. It is the start of a Hindu wedding and involves dances and songs performed by family and friends to celebrate the union of not only the bride and groom, but their families.
Attire: Not as fancy as the wedding, but go ahead and dress up a bit! Bright colors and jewelry are encouraged. Bring your dancing shoes (or opt to go barefoot, we won’t judge)! We’re still on the beach, so breathable fabric is your best bet. Feel free to wear Indian clothing or Western attire, it’s your choice.
Theme: Party Animal - disco meets safari!
